Richard J. Jamborsky

The Honorable Richard J. "Dick" Jamborsky (1936 – September 25, 2015) was a judge on the benches of both the Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court and the Circuit Court.

Jamborsky grew up in Savannah, Georgia, and graduated from the George Washington University in 1958 with a BA and a JD in 1963.[1]

In 1966, Jamborsky was a founder of the Fairfax County Legal Aid program and its first attorney.

Jamborsky joined the bench of the Juvenile and Domestic Court in November 1968, and became the Chief Judge in 1975.[1][2] The following year, Jamborsky was seated on the bench of the Circuit Court, and became Chief Judge of that court in 1990.[1]

Judge Jamborsky relinquished the Chief Judge's seat in 1994, although he continued to sit on the bench until his retirement in 1996.[3]

Judge Jamborsky continued to act as a substitute judge in retirement.

Personal

An avid runner, Judge Jamborsky ran in 25 Boston Marathons between 1972 and 1996.

Following his retirement from the full-time bench, Judge Jamborsky indulged an interest in acting, studying at the Studio Theatre Acting Conservatory in Washington, DC, from 1996 to 2000.

Jamborsky died September 25, 2015 at George Washington University Hospital.
