Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court

The Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court has jurisdiction over legal matters involving juveniles, including those involving adults who have committed crimes against juveniles in their own households, and family matters in Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax.

History

The Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court was originally part of the County Court, with judges of that court hearing cases.[1]

On April 1, 1965, the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court was split off from the County Court. Frank L. Deierhoi had been sworn in as the first judge of the newly-created court by Judge Paul E. Brown the day before.[1]

Circuit Court Judge Arthur W. Sinclair named Richard J. Jamborsky as an associate judge of the J&DR court on October 22, 1968.[2]
