Events that took place in Fairfax County in August, 1991:
- August 5 – Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Chief Warren E. Isman dies of a heart attack while on a trip to England. The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors names Glenn A. Gaines acting chief.[1]
- August 10 – The strangled corpse of 59-year-old Walter J. Graham, Jr. is found in the living room of his apartment in the Riverside Park Apartments in Alexandria by Fairfax County Police.[2][3]
- August 13 – 55-year-old Yhun Soo Ra is beaten to death in the Century 21 office at 7002 Evergreen Court in Annandale.[4]
- August 28 – 25-year-old Amilcar A. Menjivar is shot in the back of the neck and mortally injured during a robbery at the Wendy's at 7931 Lee Highway in Falls Church.[5] Menjivar lingers for nearly a month before dying at the Fairfax Hospital on September 25.[6]
