Robert A. Carlisle

Robert A. "Bob" Carlisle was the chief of the Vienna Police Department from 2001 to 2013.

Originally from Rockville, Maryland, Carlisle joined the Fairfax County Police Department in 1978.[1]

Over the years, Carlisle worked his way up the ranks, eventually becoming a major and heading up FCPD's Criminal Investigations Bureau. Carlisle retired from FCPD in January, 1999.[2]

For the next two years, Carlisle worked as assistant chief for the City of Falls Church Police Department.

On February 8, 2001, Carlisle was appointed as chief of the Vienna Police Department, taking office on February 22.[2]

Carlisle announced his intent to retire, effective January 1, 2013, on November 12, 2012. Upon retiring, Carlisle became vice president of security for Navy Federal Credit Union.[3]
