Elizabeth Schultz

Elizabeth Lyall Schultz (b. November 22, 1967) represents the Springfield District on the Fairfax County School Board.

Early life and education

The daughter of Navy Captain Gerald J. Lyall and the former Marsha Kanitz, Elizabeth A. Lyall graduated from Bonita Vista High School in Chula Vista, California in 1985. She attended James Madison University, graduating in 1989 with BS degrees in the BS subjects of History and Political Science.

Career

After college, Schultz worked as a contract negotiator, but quit in 2002 to work in multilevel marketing, throwing home parties where she would sell products for Southern Living at Home and later Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski.[1]

In September 2006, Schultz founded Republican Women of Clifton advocacy group.[2]

Following the announcement that the School Board intended to close Clifton Elementary School, Schultz founded Friends of Community Schools to help fight the closure in 2010.

School Board member Liz Bradsher's support for closing Clifton Elementary torpedoed her nascent political career, and she chose not to seek re-election in 2011. Shultz declared her candidacy for the Springfield District seat, defeating John F. Wittman in the November election.

Schultz was unopposed in the 2015 election.

Personal

She married Brian R. Schultz and the couple would have four sons: Christian, Grant, Garrett and William.
