- July 8 – 37-year-old Jeanette G. Harper proves herself to be a terrible house guest when she fatally stabs her host, 71-year-old Ada G. Sanderson, in Sanderson's house at 2909 Rogers Drive in Falls Church.[1]
- July 31 – 17-year-old William W. Crocker, IV is shot in the head and mortally wounded by 19-year-old Rick E. Herring at a construction site in the 7500 block of Dudrow Road in Springfield.[2]
