Salvatore J. Culosi

Salvatore J. "Sal" Culosi (December 17, 1968 – January 24, 2006) was a 37-year-old optometrist and criminal suspect who was shot to death by Fairfax County Police SWAT Team Member Master Police Officer Deval V. Bullock outside his townhouse at 11626 Cavalier Landing Court in the Fair Oaks region of Fairfax while the police were attempting to apprehend him on January 24, 2006.[1]

Culosi was unarmed at the time, and MPO Bullock was not able to explain how or why he shot Culosi.[1]

The invstigation that led to Culosi becoming a criminal suspect had begun several months prior, when Detective David Baucom overheard Culosi and several of his friends making bets on a college football game.[2]
