Events that took place in Fairfax County in May, 1993:
- May 6 – 2-year-old Bladimir Ventura drowns in Lake Barton in Burke while playing with his 3-year-old sister. The child is pulled out of the water by a passerby, but dies of his injuries at Fairfax Hospital on May 9.[1]
- May 29 – 8-month-old Mario Roberto Sierra drowns in Lake Accotink when his family's canoe overturns. The child's body is found by Fairfax County police divers the next day.[2]
