Jefferson Apartments

The Jefferson Apartments is an apartment complex at 5166 Leesburg Pike in Falls Church.

It was originally built in 1962 as the Ravenwood Towers by developer Louis Richman.

In 2008, it was sold and renamed the Prestwick Apartments, and by 2011 it had been renamed again, becoming simply The Jefferson.[1]

Incidents

On August 25, 1962, 42-year-old Air Force Sergeant Victor A. Tatum ambushed his ex-wife Rebecca and her boyfriend, 37-year-old Raymond D. Burke in her apartment here, fatally shooting Burke before shooting himself in the head.[2][3][4]

On September 25, 2008, 29-year-old Genevieve P. Orange was raped and beaten to death by 43-year-old leasing agent Mark E. Lawlor in her apartment following Lawlor's 11-hour crack and alcohol binge.[5]
