J. E. B. Stuart High School is a public high school in Falls Church.

When the school opened in 1959, Falls Church High School Principal W. Leon Mason became the new school's first principal.[1]

In November 1962, Principal Mason had to order his teachers not to spank students following the revelation of the posterior-punishing disciplinary policies of 25-year-old science teacher Teddy Gates.[2]

In 1987, John Randall moved from Langston Hughes Intermediate School to became the principal.[3]

Herndon High School assistant principal Prosperanta Calhoun was appointed principal in June 2012, effective July 2.[4]

Calhoun's term as principal was difficult and ultimately brief.

In FCPS's 2014 Working Conditions Survey, which measured employee satisfaction with their employment environment, only a quarter of the respondents said that the leadership at Stuart was effective. Less than a third, just 32%, said the school was a good place to work.[5]

Ultimately, Calhoun was yanked out of Stuart and given a specially-created position in FCPS administration. Glasgow Middle School principal Penny Gros became the new principal on April 15, 2015.[6]
