George Mason High School

George Mason High School is a public high school in the City of Falls Church.

Construction of the school by the B. & J. Construction Company at a cost of $700,000 began in January 1951, but strikes and material shortages delayed the work.[1]

The unfinished school opened on September 8, 1952, but was ordered closed the following day to allow additional work installing ceilings.[1] A dedication ceremony for the school was held on October 11, 1952.

On November 20, 2012, as part of a deal allowing the Fairfax County Water Authority to purchase the city's water utility for $40 million, Fairfax County agreed to allow the school's property to be annexed by the city.[2]
