Clarence A. Satterwhite

Clarence Andrew Satterwhite was a 39-year-old career criminal who was fatally shot by Fairfax County Police Detective John F. Briggman in his room at 6509 Washington Drive in the Bailey's Crossroads section of Falls Church on the night of January 30, 1963.[1]

Satterwhite was the leader of a gang of nearly a dozen criminals responsible for a series of robberies in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. After all of his gang had been rounded up, Satterwhite was confronted in bed by officers and shot in the head by Detective Briggman when he attempted to use the pistol he'd concealed under the sheets.[1]

Satterwhite was taken to Fairfax Hospital, where he died within the hour.[1]
