Events that took place in Fairfax County in August, 2016:
- August 5 – 28-year-old Henry H. Sterne is fatally injured in an early morning crash in Great Falls. Sterne is taken to the hospital, where he is pronounced dead.[1]
- August 6 – 19-year-old park employee Kempton A. Bonds fatally stabs 35-year-old caterer Tyonne D. Johns at Cabell's Mill to settle an argument over folding chairs in the Ellanor C. Lawrence Park in Centreville. Johns is taken to the hospital, where she dies.[2][3]
- August 15 – Fairfax County Sheriff's deputy Patrick McPartlin fatally shoots 29-year-old Jovany Martinez at the bus stop outside of Inova Fairfax Hospital when Martinez attacks McPartlin with a pointed sign post.[4][5]
- August 28 – 76-year-old Hung Soon Seo is struck by a hit-and-run driver as she crosses North Shore Drive near Village Road in Reston. Seo is taken to the Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she dies later that evening.[6]
- August 29 – 23-year-old Nicholas V. Hammond drunkenly kills 52-year-old Elmi Suada on Interstate 495 near the Little River Turnpike in Annandale when he rear-ends the Toyota Camry she is riding in with his Nissan Maxima. Hammond flees the scene on foot, but is picked up by police a little over an hour and a half later.[7]
- August 30 – 56-year-old Aaron McCullough is struck and killed by a 69-year-old woman driving a 2015 GMC Yukon SUV when he starts walking in a lane on the Richmond Highway in the Mount Vernon area of Alexandria.[8][9]
