- August 3 – 56-year-old Peter M. Kester is killed when he crashes his moped into a Toyota Camry that attempts a U-turn on Franconia Road near Thornhill Court in Springfield.[1]
- August 5 – 42-year-old Khalid Aboumalik is robbed and murdered in the Huntington Park in Alexandria by 19-year-old Michael N. Powell.[2][3][4]
- August 26 – 16-year-old Vladimir Antonio Perez Flores drowns in the Little Hunting Creek near where it flows into the Potomac River in Alexandria.[5][6]
