Events that took place in Fairfax County in August, 2009:
- August 15 – 92-year-old Howard Simmons is struck and mortally injured by a 1996 Toyota Camry as he attempts to cross Center Road near Glen Oaks Court in Springfield. Simmons is taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he dies early the next morning.[1]
- August 15 – 34-year-old Ahmed Chouaib is shot to death by his girlfriend, 64-year-old Maria De Las Mercedes Tizon, in her apartment at 14325 Climbing Rose Way, No. 105, in the Centre Ridge neighborhood of Centreville.[2][3]
