Randolph M. Loughborough

Randolph McGill Loughborough (February 15, 1892 – September 10, 1970) was the only person to hold the office of Executive Secretary for Fairfax County and briefly acted as its first County Executive following the county's adoption of the county executive form of government in 1952.[1]

Personal

Born in Leesburg, Loughborough would have two children with his wife, Mary; son Stuart and daughter Minna.[1]

Career

Loughborough entered service with the county government as an assistant county engineer in 1924. He became the county purchasing agent in August, 1932, and became executive secretary on January 20, 1945.[1][2]

After Carlton C. Massey assumed his office as county executive, Loughborough continued with the county as a purchasing agent until he retired in 1964.[1]
