Kings Park

Kings Park is a neighborhood in Springfield.

Kings Park is just one of many neighborhoods in Fairfax County where cost-conscious builders pinched every last penny by constructing sewer lines using Orangeburg pipe, a pipe made of asphalt and wood pulp. By 1979, scores of Kings Park homeowners had experienced collapses or other failures of their sewer pipes, forcing their replacement.[1]

Incidents

On December 12, 1964, Lieutenant Colonel Charles W. Fitzmaurice was shot to death when he was greeted by a shotgun blast after answering the door of his home at 8529 Parliament Drive in the neighborhood.[2]
