John F. Herrity

John Francis "Jack" Herrity (January 23, 1932 – February 1, 2006) was a businessman and chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors from 1976 to 1988.

Herrity was also the supervisor for the Springfield District from 1972 to 1976.

Herrity was elected to the BoS as the supervisor from the Springfield district on November 2, 1971, defeating Democratic incumbent Virginia McEnearney.[1]

Following the resignation of William S. Hoofnagle as chairman of the BoS on September 18, 1972, it was speculated that Herrity might seek the position, but he instead chose to endorse recent Republican convert and Fairfax County School Board Chairman William B. Wrench.[2][3]
