Fairfax County School Board

The Fairfax County School Board serves to oversee the Fairfax County Public Schools system. There are currently twelve members of the board, one for each magisterial district and three at-large members.

Prior to 1995, the members of the Board were appointed by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. A referendum approved on November 2, 1993 changed this, and the Board is now elected by popular vote.[1]
