Johanna L. Fitzpatrick

The Honorable Johanna L. Fitzpatrick was a judge of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court from 1980 to 1982 and the Circuit Court from 1982 to 1992.

On September 13, 1979, Fitzpatrick became the first woman appointed to serve as a judge in the county when Circuit Court Judge Barnard Jennings appointed her to a six-year term as a substitute judge for the General District Court.[1]

Judge Fitzpatrick later served as a judge on the Virginia Court of Appeals from 1992 to 2006.
