Jermaine James

Jermaine Anthony James (1980 – October 12, 1987) was a six-year-old child who was killed in a fire, along with six-year-old Amanda Croson, in his mother's rented third floor unit at 11633 Stoneview Square in the Shadowood Condominiums in Reston on October 12, 1987.[1]

Jermaine's 25-year-old mother Sandra had gone to work at her part-time housekeeping job at the nearby Comfort Inn in Herndon, leaving her 8-year-old daughter Tina to babysit. When the fire broke out in the apartment, Tina ran for help, but the door locked behind her, trapping Jermaine and Amanda.[1][2][3]
