Herndon Police Department

The Herndon Police Department is the police department for the town of Herndon.

Until the late 1950's, the senior officer of the department was the town sergeant. In 1958, Joseph Murray became the town's first Chief of Police.[1]

From the mid-1980s until 2004, the department used the former Oak Grove Elementary School building as its headquarters. In 2004, the HPD relocated to a new site at 397 Herndon Parkway.[2]

The current Chief of Police is Colonel Maggie DeBoard, who was sworn in on March 6, 2012.[3]
