- February 29 – 28-year-old Fitsum Gebreegziabher is struck and killed in Springfield by Josuel P. Galdino. Gebreegziabher becomes entangled with the Mitsubishi Montero driven by Galdino, who leaves the scene and drags Gebreegziabher 8½ miles to his home in the Lorton Station neighborhood of Lorton.[1]
