David L. Ruel
David L. Ruel was a 42-year-old former Deputy Sheriff who committed suicide by shooting himself in an athletic field near his home in Herndon on November 27, 2007.[1]
Ruel's suicide came one day after his apartment and storage unit were searched by officers of the Fairfax County Police Department, who were investigating allegations that Ruel had sexually abused a 12-year-old boy beginning in 2001.[1]
