Tariq M. Khan

Tariq M. Khan was a 32-year-old bank robber who was shot to death following a brief gun battle with Fairfax County Police officer Troy S. Payne, Jr. in a parking garage at the Tysons Corner Center in McLean on October 17, 1996.[1][2]

Khan had just robbed the Riggs Bank in the mall of $56,000 when he ran into Officer Payne, who was writing a parking ticket.[1][3] Khan shot at Payne several times, striking him in the arm, and Payne returned fire, killing Khan.
