- September 7 – While clearing brush on Clifton Creek Drive in Clifton, 32-year-old bulldozer operator Jackie L. Blankenbaker is killed when his bulldozer rolls over and he is crushed beneath the machine.[1]
- September 16 – 40-year-old Paul H. Rawley is found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home at 11304 Seneca Circle in Herndon.[2]
