Northern Virginia Training Center

The Northern Virginia Training Center (NTVC) was a 78-acre residential state facility for people with mental and physical handicaps on Braddock Road in Fairfax.

The facility opened in 1973 as the Northern Virginia Training Center for the Mentally Retarded.

On January 26, 2012, Virginia agreed to close down the NVTC as part of a $2 billion dollar settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice.[1]

The NVTC closed in March 2016, and Erickson Living entered into an agreement to buy the property in September 2017 with the intention of turning it into a retirement community.[2]
