Mona Blake

Mona Blake was the first African-American to serve on the Fairfax County School Board.

A graduate of Howard University, she served from 1972 to 1974.[1]

Early in her term, Blake opposed Commonwealth-mandated testing of black children for sickle cell anemia, stating that the information was often used against them to deny employment and raise insurance premiums.[2]
