James M. Mahoney

Captain James M. Mahoney was a Fairfax County Police officer.

Mahoney was recruited by Sheriff Eppa P. Kirby in 1937. When the department separated from the Sheriff's Office in 1940, Mahoney was one of the six original officers.[1]

In 1942, Mahoney joined the Navy and served overseas for 34 months. Upon his return, he met and married his wife, Virginia.[1]

Mahoney eventually became the Captain of the FCPD's first substation in Groveton. He retired in 1968.[1]
