Harrison Snell

Harrison Snell (March 8, 1930 – June 11, 1977) was a 47-year-old disabled veteran from Suitland, Maryland who was fatally shot by Fairfax County Police officer Edgar J. Wimberly when he shot at Wimberly in front of the Fairfax Heritage Apartments in Annandale on June 11, 1977.[1]

Snell had been involved in a traffic crash in front of the Annandale campus of Northern Virginia Community College and fled the scene waving a revolver wrapped in a blue shirt. After an hour of searching, Officer Wimberly found Snell in front of the apartments nearly a mile and a half away and followed him into a wooded area. Snell fired three shots at Wimberly, who returned fire with his shotgun.[1]

Snell was taken to the Fairfax Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.[1]
