David R. Hawks

David Robert Hawks (October 9, 1955 – November 11, 1972) was a 17-year-old Madison High School senior who was mortally injured when a power line blew down and struck him and killed his 15-year-old girlfriend, Elizabeth Morse, as they walked along Courthouse Road in Vienna early on the morning of October 15, 1972.[1][2]

With burns over 90% of his body, Hawks was flown to the Brooke Memorial Hospital at Fort Sam Houston in Texas for specialized care on October 20, where he subsquently endured two skin grafts and the amputation of his right arm and left leg before finally dying on November 11.[2]
