The 12.4-acre property that was to become the Bradlick Shopping Center was rezoned on July 26, 1962 by a 4-3 vote of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. Former supervisor John P. Parrish would later be convicted on February 23, 1967, of a bribery scheme for selling his vote for $5,250 worth of stock in Kent Washington, Inc., purchased for him by Washington attorney Isadore Parzow.[1]

Construction began on the center in July, 1963, and the center was ready for occupancy by November of that year.[2][3] The center was originally anchored by a Grand Union supermarket and a Dart Drug.[3]
