Events that took place in Fairfax County in August, 2000:
- August 15 – 41-year-old Staff Sergeant Spring L. Law is shot and mortally wounded by her 35-year-old former boyfriend Charles T. Saunders, who then kills himself in front of her home on Fort Belvoir. Sergeant Law is flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she dies.[1][2]
