Stanley W. Hughes

Stanley Wayne Hughes (died February 12, 1979) was a 21-year-old man who was shot to death by Fairfax County Police Sergeant Walter D. Blankenship and Arlington County Police District Supervisor Kenneth Madden in his mother's apartment at 3332 Lockheed Boulevard in Alexandria on February 12, 1979.[1]

Hughes was staying in the apartment of his mother Naomi B. Hughes, who was hiding her boyfriend, 34-year-old criminal suspect Kenneth E. King. When Officers Blankenship and Madden demanded entry to the apartment, King fatally shot himself in the bedroom. Ms. Hughes and her son attempted to flee the apartment, and Officer Blankenship, upon seeing a running black man, shot Hughes three times, while Madden shot him once.[1][2]
