Huntsman Lake

Huntsman Lake is a 28-acre man-made lake in Springfield.

The lake is created by the impoundment of the Middle Run tributary of the Pohick Creek by Pohick Creek Dam Number 8, which was constructed in 1973.

The lake was drained in 2013 to allow for maintenance of the dam and dredging of accumulated silt from the lake.[1]

Incidents

On February 16, 1982, three-year-old playmates Gregory Liveris and Mercedes Lopes fell through the thin ice and drowned in the lake.[2]
