Genevieve P. Orange

Genevieve Paulette "Gini" Orange was a 29-year-old woman who was raped and beaten to death by 43-year-old Mark E. Lawlor in her apartment in the Prestwick Apartments at 6166 Leesburg Pike in Falls Church on September 25, 2008.[1]

Orange was originally from Roanoke, Virginia.[1] She had graduated from Virginia Tech in 2001, and moved to Northern Virginia in 2003 to take a job with the Futures Industry Association as an event planner.[1][2] She was also a member of the McLean Bible Church, where she sang in the choir and volunteered to work with a children's group.[3]

On the evening of her death, Orange came home from work and was watching a DVD of the television show "Heroes".[1] At some point, Lawlor, who worked as a leasing agent for the Prestwick Apartments and had been on an 11-hour cocaine binge, used a key to enter her apartment and beat her with a hammer, frying pan, and cooking pot, inflicting 47 separate wounds.[1]
