Furnace Road

Furnace Road is the name for a portion of Virginia State Route 611 in Lorton.

Even though Furnace Road is a fairly short road, an oddly high number of incidents have taken place along its three-mile length over the years.

On July 12, 2010, the bones of 32-year-old Manuel Mireles-Garcia were found by an amateur photographer who had stopped to take a picture of a deer.[1] The bones of Manuel's 31-year-old brother, Alberto, were found nearby, near the railroad bridge over Furnace Road, on March 15, 2011.[2]
