Erin F. Schaible

Lieutenant Colonel Erin Flaherty Schaible (1966 - ) is the Deputy Chief of Police for Patrol of the Fairfax County Police Department.

Personal

Schaible moved to Virginia from California as a teenager in 1979. She grew up in McLean and attended Bishop O'Connell High School in Arlington, graduating in 1984. Following high school, she attended Virginia Tech, graduating in 1988. She further enhanced her academic credentials by taking a Masters Degree in Public Administration from George Mason University in 2007.[1]

She married fellow FCPD officer Lance E. Schaible and together they had three children.[1]

Professional

Following her graduation from Virginia Tech, Schiable joined the Fairfax County Police Department in 1990 and worked as a patrol officer out of the Mason District Station. In 1995, she was promoted to sergeant and was assigned to the Franconia District Station and later to the McLean District Station. While at the McLean Station Schiable was promoted to second lieutenant, and remained at that rank while serving as the Aide to the Duty Officer at the communication center and as the Field Training Coordinator in the FCPD's Field Training program.[1]

In 2000, Schaible became a first lieutenant and worked as Assistant Station Commander at the Reston District Station, as an Aide to the Chief, in the Internal Affairs Bureau, as School Liaison Commander, and as Assistant Commander at the McLean District Station. Her promotion to Captain saw her assignment as Director of the Communications Center and Staff Duty Officer for the county, in addition to a temporary stint in the Personnel Division.[1]

Schaible became the Station Commander at the Franconia District Station in 2007, where she had previously served as a sergeant.[1] In 2010 she became Commander of the Organized Crime Division.[2] .

Major Schaible next became the commander of the Resource Management Bureau before becoming commander Patrol Bureau for Division II.

On November 13, 2013 Major Schaible was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and took over the department's Patrol Bureau.[3]
